Brighter Planet is unabashedly a for-profit company. Prior to our launch, we weighed heavily the decision of whether to structure ourselves as a business or an NGO. Ultimately, we decided that fighting climate change with a business model that sustains itself through revenue held more potential than a model that must sustain itself through outside donations and grants.
As a socially responsible company, we believe that business can and should be a powerful force for making positive change in the world. We aspire to, in the words of Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus, “make the market work for social goals as efficiently as it does for personal goals.”
