Eating less meat is healthier for you and the planet. Meat consumption has been linked to a variety of health conditions, including cardiovascular disease and cancer. Meat production is a hugely inefficient use of land, water and energy. It takes about 2,500 gallons of water to produce a pound of beef, and the area of land needed to feed a meat eater could feed 10 or more vegetarians. Red meats have roughly four times the climate impact of grains, with beef being the worst. Poultry and fish are a bit better, with twice the climate impact of grains.

How do you reduce your carbon cookprint by limiting meat?
