Cleaning up after a long satisfying meal can be a burden, and not just on your psyche. Your utility bill and the environment both feel the impact of kitchen cleanup. Hot water alone consumes 12% of household energy, and the kitchen uses about an eighth of this. But there are many ways to save energy during cleanup, whether in the water heater, the fridge and freezer, or elsewhere.
