Maggie is a freelance astronomer and wannabe farmer who moved to back to her hometown in northern Wisconsin in 2008. She is concerned about the state of the nation's "food network" and wants to demonstrate that communities really can take care of themselves. Food, energy, and jobs--a sustainable community generates all three in a way that fosters strong local relationships and a healthy environment. Maggie worked with a group of local growers to start the Antigo Farmers' Market in 2008, and was elected to the City Council in 2009. She also founded the Global Science Institute in Antigo, which supports workshops and lectures on everything from the Earth to the stars.
